How SASSA Payment Dates Work
SASSA pays different grant types on different days each month. The order is always the same: Older Persons and Disability grants are paid first, followed by Child Support and other grants, and finally the SRD R370 grant. This staggered approach reduces queues at pay points and banks.
If a payment date falls on a public holiday or weekend, SASSA typically moves the payment to the last working day before that date.

SRD R370 Grant Payment — What You Need to Know
The SRD (Social Relief of Distress) grant of R370 per month is paid across a window period rather than on a single day. SASSA processes payments in batches over the course of the month, which is why your neighbour may receive their payment on a different date to you.
Your payment date depends on how SASSA has batched your application and your chosen payment method. Beneficiaries with bank accounts typically receive payment earlier in the cycle than those using retail pay points or Post Office collection.
Payment Methods Available
🏦 Bank Account
Payment is deposited directly into your bank account. This is the fastest and most secure method. Update your banking details on the SRD portal if they have changed.
🛒 Retail Pay Points
Collect cash at Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Checkers, Boxer, or other retail partners. You need your South African ID to collect.
📮 Post Office
Collect from your nearest Post Office. Bring your green ID book or smart ID card. Check your local Post Office for opening hours.
💳 SASSA Card
If you have a SASSA gold card (for older grants), payment is loaded onto the card and can be withdrawn at ATMs or used at stores.
Check If Your Payment Was Approved
Use the official SASSA portal to check your grant status and confirm payment.
